RASUN Ltd; is the Ross distributor for Iraq and is an essential part of the Ross distribution network in the Middle East Area. The Company is part of the Vano Group, which also has interests in Veterinary Pharmaceuticals, Equipment and Feed. Vano have been working with the Ross brand since 2003 and established Rasun Ltd in 2006 when they became the official Ross distributor in Iraq.
Vano and Rasun have together around 70 employees, led by a professional and experienced management team, Dr Salah Bakir heads the team as Chairman & CEO and is supported by Engineer Karwan Mustafa as Vano Group General Manager, Dr Ahmed Abduljawad as Technical & Customer Service Manager, Mr. Barzi Salah as Commercial Manager, Mr. Kawa Mustafa as Rasun Grandparents Production Manager, Eng. Omar Abdulaziz as Rasun Hatchery Manager and Dr. Ziad Sheikh Mohamed as Feed mill & Laboratory Manager.
This team has been involved in the poultry industry for many years and has in-depth knowledge of Ross products and the Iraqi poultry industry. Customer service is very important to Rasun and they have a highly skilled technical team, supported by Aviagen’s Ross Middle East customer focus team, who work closely with customers to ensure they maximize the genetic potential of their Ross stock.
The head office of the Rasun Company is situated in Erbil a city located in Kurdistan region of Iraq, and Rasun Grandparents farms are located in Shaqlawa district 60 km north of the city of Erbil. Rasun site surrounded by mountains from all edges, making it isolated from the areas of local rural population, Rasun currently have four farms of Broiler Grandparents where each consisting of 3 houses two for female line and one for male line, and a State of Art equipped Parent Stock Hatchery with the capacity of production of 3 million chicks annually, 1.5 million Parent stock day old chicks , with same number of chicks produced as byproducts, in addition to the water purification plant, warehouse, maintenance center and administration buildings.
Rasun takes bio security extremely seriously and have a dedicated feed mill which produces pasteurized feed for the GP farms and a Veterinary Laboratory which has been designed to meet the requirement of their GP operation in addition to a Nutrition Lab for raw materials and feed analysis by NIR and Mycotoxins detection apparatus.
The ROSS 308 is the most popular broiler brand in Iraq and indeed through the Middle East Area, excellent breeder performances as well as outstanding broiler results emphasize the balanced approach to breeding adopted by Aviagen. The ROSS 308 is performing ahead of competitor products in key traits such as early growth, feed conversion, livability and overall health status of the birds. Like all industries in Iraq, the political and economic unrest has majorly impacted upon poultry industry. The Country’s Central and Southern areas have seen the revival of poultry projects due to the relevant improvement in the security situation. Integrated contract farming programmer are already started to replace the old production system, which will help to grow the Iraqi poultry industry at a fast pace. The market size is currently just around two million parents but the market is expected to grow strongly as the political situation stabilizes.
